Yipwons

new-guinea | yipwons
Yipwons are highly stylised representations of the human figure. Large yipwons remained in the village and received blood and betel nut sacrifices, sometimes nettle would be mixed in the offerings to make it supernaturally hot. They were consulted prior to hunting or raids. Smaller yipwons are carried on hunting or raids. They are also referred to as Cult Hooks.
